The Digital Content Coordinator is responsible for providing Denver Zoo’s external and internal audiences with engaging, entertaining, and informative content that is of the highest quality and on-brand. The Digital Content Coordinator films, edits and produces videos and brand journalism assets across the Zoo’s proprietary internal and external digital channels and supports other public relations and communications initiatives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Priority 1 – Digital Content Creation

  • Film, edit, and produce video stories for Denver Zoo’s YouTube and social media channels, including Facebook, Instagram, X, TikTok and LinkedIn.
  • Film, edit, and produce video stories for Denver Zoo’s internal communications channels, including SharePoint, Town Halls, and virtual events.
  • Collaborate with Digital Content Manager, Internal Communications Manager and Director of Integrated Communications to ideate videos and other social media content.
  • Film b-roll of significant events and occurrences at Denver Zoo, field conservation sites and around the community for digital content and archival purposes.
  • Provide creative and strategic guidance for internal stakeholders on all video projects.

Priority 2 – Social Media

  • Collaborate with Digital Content Manager to develop social media calendar and day-to-day planning and coordination of all channels.
  • Collaborate with Digital Content Manager to draft, edit and proofread social media copy.
  • Support responding to questions and comments through direct messages and comments on Denver Zoo posts.
  • Assist Digital Content Manager in identifying social media trends and opportunities to employ new tools within existing digital channels.

Priority 3 – Collaboration

  • Assist Digital Content Manager and Director of Integrated Communications with other public relations and communications activities.
  • Assist Creative Director and Digital Content Manager with organizing Denver Zoo’s comprehensive video archives.

Other Responsibilities and Duties

  • Other assistance, as designated by the Digital Content Manager, to support the overall goals of the department and organization.  Denver Zoo retains the right to add or change duties and/or responsibilities at any time.
  • Acts as a good steward of Denver Zoo’s resources.
  • The nature of this position requires safeguarding against the release of confidential and proprietary information of Denver Zoo.
  • This position will interact with managers at all levels and staff members across the organization.

Technical / Professional Requirements & Qualifications

  • Completion or in pursuit of 2-year degree in Videography, Film, Public Relations and/or Journalism required, or in a related field, or any equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Requires minimum of 1-3 years of experience in video production, public relations, marketing, or digital content production; experience working in a nonprofit is strongly preferred, or any equivalent combination of experience, lived experience, and/or special skills.
  • Proven video production and editing skills in Adobe Premier Pro (or similar software) are necessary.
  • Proven computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite are necessary.
  • Requires excellent organizational skills, written and oral communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize work and tasks.
  • Requires adaptability to produce and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, multi-task and changing environment, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good negotiation skills and the ability to handle sensitive information with diplomacy are preferred.
  • Must be an outstanding communicator and considered to be a developer of people who is comfortable motivating, collaborating, and working with a broad cross section of people in direct and matrixed relationships.
  • Requires the ability to embrace, support, and integrate Denver Zoo’s philosophies to promote and demonstrate its commitment to diversity, inclusion, equity, and anti-racism.

Position Conditions

  • Ability to pass a background check and pre-employment drug and alcohol screen.
  • Schedule Availability: Days with occasional nights and weekends.
  • Work Location: On campus.

Compensation

Range for this position: $4,354 – $5,333 (monthly).
