About the Role

In this role you will provide efficient daily content production to ensure ABC News delivers a consistently high standard of original, creative, and relevant political material. In addition to producing and subbing digital content (text, photos, audio, and video) for News websites using CoreMedia and other production systems. You will also contribute original ideas and angles for digital coverage of metro and state stories and events and take part in editorial meetings as required.

The role will also involve:

  • Keeping up to date with advances and developments in the new media industry including current web standards / emerging platforms such as video streaming, social media, and mobile applications.
  • Adopting a flexible, collaborative approach within the team. Mentor other members of the team where appropriate. Undertake other editorial duties as required by your manager.
  • Generating stories that are relevant to a broad section of Australians and reflect the cultural, geographic, and socio-economic diversity of the country.

About You

We are seeking a Digital Producer with digital journalism skills and experience in working in a News environment. You will have a strong understanding of online News, including social media and methods of online content distribution and engagement being key to the role. You have advanced interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a small team.  Your strong time management skills and the ability to work accurately and autonomously to tight deadlines are essential in this role

  • A demonstrated track record as a meticulous, fast, and accurate sub-editor able to correct and, where necessary, rewrite copy to the highest standards.
  • A strong understanding of and commitment to the needs of the audience and a wide knowledge of national and international News, particularly politics.
  • Understanding of cross platform content production and emerging technologies. Experienced and proficient in the use of multimedia editing and production systems.
  • General ability to commission online coverage from Broadcast Journalists, working with them to enable the best possible outcome for the audience.
