Sam’s Social Media Club is helping Yorkshire Water find a Media Advisor.

Salary & Benefits:  £33,626 – £42,032 per annum dependent on experience + pension with up to 10% employer contribution rates + 25 days holiday + 8 x Bank Holidays + 1 x Well Being Day + performance bonus + retail savings scheme + training & development opportunities in line with the Media Advisor progression plan

Location: Bradford (hybrid working, with a mix of office and home-working) 

 

This is a permanent, full time role working 37 hours per week

 

Who are we looking for?

 

As our Media Advisor, you will be a specialist in media relations and PR. You will build strong relationships with journalists and influencers to help tell the story about what Yorkshire Water does.

 

Some other key responsibilities include the following – 
•    To proactively identify and manage emerging reputational risks and opportunities
•    To be a great story teller and look for opportunities to explain what Yorkshire Water does to its customers and stakeholders
•    To lead, drive and produce compelling content through the media and online
•    To enable effective relationships with journalists, editors, bloggers, influencers and other online commentators
•    To support development and implement the content strategy and ensure media is used effectively across the business ensuring a high level of company trust, customer satisfaction and audience engagement
•    To manage the relationship with key internal stakeholders and deliver bespoke training to ensure media practice is understood and used correctly and that key partners such as customer experience and contract partners support the delivery of the media strategy
•    To deliver planned and effective media campaigns, activity and engagement to facilitate the performance of the business
•    To use off and online channels to influence and create advocacy so that we can build trust and achieve support for plans or initiatives from stakeholders
•    To work alongside the Communications Manager to build trust in the company brand through effective use of digital communications for PR, campaigns and crisis communications
•    To support the social media team with the use of online channels to influence and create advocacy so that we can build trust and achieve support for plans or initiatives
•    To work on projects across the Brand & Comms team, providing support, technical knowledge and content development assistance
•    To help support wider content and copywriting initiatives when required

 

What are the key skills required for the role?

 

The successful candidate will have significant experience working as a media/PR professional within an agency/in-house environment, with a proven track record of delivering effective media and digital campaigns within a pressured work setting.
You will constantly be aware of key media issues relating to the business and wider industry, you will ensure the team are kept informed and are able to organise and plan your workload effectively. You will also:
•    Have excellent skills relating to online channel and content publishing with a strong working knowledge of a range of media monitoring tools
•    Possess strong knowledge of the media and digital environment, including social media and how offline channels can be used to drive interest in this
•    Be proactive, creative and driven, with an ability to put creative ideas into action, creating content that users want to engage with, utilising this content to build relationships and create advocacy
•    Have demonstrable experience of liaising and dealing with journalists and the media, accompanied by excellent interpersonal, influencing and written skills
•    Be able to work independently as well as support and contribute to a team.
