In the Communications Program, we aim to build confidence and understanding of the Bureau, to inspire action and to enable us to influence, when it matters most. The team are content creators, providing at the moment information and building understanding of the Bureau through telling our stories and sharing insights through a variety of channels including traditional media, social media and video streaming. We are proactive storytellers sharing the human story behind our work in weather, climate, water, oceans and space, seeking to tell the stories of our staff, our customers, our partners and the community. We also work collaboratively across the Bureau to respond to the story of the day, keeping the community informed when it matters most.

As the Manager, Strategic Content and Media you will lead a team of professionals to oversee a strategic , reactive and proactive approach to content delivery and act as the custodian for some of Australia’s most trusted channels. You will showcase your ability to operate at a strategic and whole of enterprise level as the Bureau’s Communications Lead for severe weather and critical events.

You will be a strong, well-planned and inclusive manager, able to lead and inspire your team while ensuring work is strategically aligned and priorities are delivered. You will be comfortable dealing with complexity and sensitivity, often under time pressure. You will think on your feet and exercise a significant degree of autonomy and have the judgement and situational awareness to identify risk and issues and know when and how to escalate effectively. You will collaborate with others to introduce new ways of working and foster a culture of continuous improvement.

You will be a trusted adviser to senior staff at the Bureau and will work in close partnership with peers in the Communications Program, Community Services and closely with key government stakeholders and in partner agencies.
