The Communications Branch provides coordinated communication advice in support of the Department of Veterans’ Affairs commitment to put veterans and their families first. In addition to providing strategic communications support across the department, the Branch handles media enquiries, manages the department’s social media channels and provides graphic design, online publishing and corporate communication services.

As a part of the Digital Services and Design Section you will join a team that is responsible for the Department of Veteran’s Affairs social media channels. Our ideal candidate will be able to assist in all administrative aspects of running a successful Social Media Team. You will be able to work in a fast-paced team that builds relationships with many areas of the department, and you will be able to manage multiple jobs under tight deadlines on a daily basis.

Duties

  • Under supervision, schedule social media content for publication on DVA’s social media channels and confirm successful publication.
  • Export pre-developed social media engagement dashboards and distribute them to the executive and internal stakeholders.
  • Assist with the management of the very busy social media content calendar including planning and scheduling content.
  • Build strong collaborative working relationships and liaise with internal stakeholders and ensure all social media clearance processes are followed prior to publication.
  • Assist with moderation of commentary on DVA’s social media channels in-line with relevant guidelines and policies.
  • Uphold and work in accordance with DVA’s social media policies.
  • Other duties as directed.

Eligibility

  • Under section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1999, employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the Australian Public Service (APS).
  • All applicants external to DVA offered employment will be required to successfully undergo a pre-engagement screening check, even if they have a security clearance. The screening check is conducted in accordance with the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework requirements.

A merit pool of suitable applicants may be created which may be used to fill future ongoing and non-ongoing vacancies should they become available over the next 18 months.

Successful applicants engaged into the APS will be subject to a probation period.
